Hello, we are Limehouse Laces a girls community football club based in Tower Hamlets.

Developing girls as players and individuals is at the centre of everything we do.We believe that playing regular sport is important, not only for your physical health, but for your emotional well being as well. Also playing regular sports boosts your brain in a myriad of different ways so helps you educationally as well.
Playing regular sport in the right environment builds self-esteem and self-confidence and makes you more resilient and able to deal with life’s ups and downs. Many girls don’t play sport because they feel they are inadequate, not sporty enough or lack the skills. Don’t let that those worries put you off playing – we don’t have trials as we don’t believe sport is about innate talent. Yes some people are born with more ability than others but that ability is not fixed – it can grow and the way to make it grow the quickest is to take a risk, make mistakes and learn from them. At Limehouse Laces, coaches and girls never make someone feel inadequate if they are trying their hardest – learning is about pushing boundaries and we always focus on effort rather than results. We think of it as the virtuous football circle. You come to training or play in a match, you make a mistake but no one criticises you because you tried your hardest, you learn something from that mistake, you feel a bit more confident so you take a bigger risk and learn even more which makes you feel even more confident etc. It doesn’t happen overnight but if you keep putting in the effort and trying you hardest you will see your talent grow, your confidence build and you’ll have fun and make new friends in the process.
So take your first risk and come to training.
