U14s Away vs. Westway

Final Score: 3-1

Girl of the Game: Bianca

Players: Eleanor, Eve, Marina, Amanda, Georgia, Bianca, T.

Today the U14s played 7v7 away against Westway. Both teams battled tirelessly in the first half, with the game being incredibly even and the Limehouse defence, made up of Eve, Marina and Georgia, giving a solid display. Eleanor made some outstanding saves however, just before half time we conceded an unlucky goal through a poor clearance.

Halftime: 1-0

The second half started as evenly as the first had ended and Limehouse, with both sides coming close to goal. The defence was altered to just Eve and Marina, who both made some excellent tackles, and did not panic under pressure, winning the ball and feeding it upfield to the attackers.

About half way through the second half T, who had been battling constantly in midfield, was forced to switch with Eleanor in goal, after receiving a bad knock on her foot, and made some incredible saves during the rest of the game.

The midfield consequently consisted of Bianca, Georgia and Eleanor who, linking up with Amanda upfront, stretched the opposition and created a lot of space and chances for themselves, being unlucky not to successfully convert any. In the last 5 minutes, being 3-0 down, Bianca had the ball bounce in front of her on the half way line and hit it perfectly, with it flying into the top corner.

Fulltime: 3-1

Despite the scoreline, the girls put up an incredible fight against a team who had 6 substitutes, and were constantly bringing on fresh legs. Everyone put in 110%, and should all be incredibly proud of their performance.

Onwards and upwards!!
